This week’s Makeover Monday uses data from the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law 2020 study. In it, they scored each country out of 100 on each of 8 measures. This data gives us a high-level view globally and by country of areas that we can focus on in order to close the economic gap between women and men.
I used the World Bank’s data to give us a current picture of disparities around the globe, highlighting areas to improve. The interactive dashboard also allows viewers to look closer at historical scores by country, to see how we’ve improved over time.
Notably absent from my visualization is the World Bank’s information on the laws that affect this data; I highly recommend that if you are interested in how improvements are made over time, you consult the original study, in which there’s a lengthy Summary of Reforms, detailing legal reforms between 2017 and 2019.
