Humbled and surprised

I was thoroughly humbled and surprised this weekend when Adam Mico told me I'd been nominated for a Data Do-Gooder Vizzie award at this year's Tableau Conference-ish. I can't really express what it feels like to be considered in the same category as many of these superstars.
I am very new to the Tableau community and have found everyone here to be wonderfully supportive and kind. We are a diverse bunch and committed to making each other the best datavizzers we can be, each in our own way.
I have struggled with finding my "voice" in the data world, a place that can be very large and overwhelming. When I found Viz for Social Good, it blew my mind that there were collaborative projects I could just help with. It helped me realize that I really enjoy helping people.
Part of “helping people” is with projects specifically geared towards philanthropy, and part of it is helping advocate for data-based decisions and data literacy among people who are not “data people”.
I am eternally grateful to Tableau, Tableau Public, and the positive community that they foster, for helping me find and define that little part of myself, even as we are all in a tremendous amount of turmoil.
